Our Mission
Operation Be You empowers all girls, with an emphasis on girls of color, in Lexington, Kentucky, and the surrounding counties to grow with confidence, cultural pride, and emotional wellness. Through mentorship, leadership development, and enriching experiences, OBY creates safe spaces where girls can discover who they are and who they can become. Our vision is a community where every girl feels seen, supported, and prepared to thrive.
Events & Programs
At Operation Be You, events & programs establish the main source of enrichment for teen girls. Events are typically recurring one-day activities that give girls focused opportunities to build confidence, connect with peers, and experience joy. Programs are annually offered, providing 8 to 12-week experiences that empower girls to embrace their identity, strengthen their voice, and access meaningful opportunities.

Get Involved
While Operation Be You activities are intended for girls aged 10-17, there are ways of getting involved for everyone. Teen girls can participate by becoming a member, parents and those 18 years & older can volunteer their time during events, and all are welcome to donate. Every form of involvement strengthens our village and helps us create meaningful, joyful experiences for our girls.
Membership
Membership offers priority registration and additional perks to girls who are 10-17 years old, helping them stay connected and supported throughout the year.
Volunteer
Each volunteer plays an important role in strengthening our village and helping our girls feel seen, supported, and celebrated. Volunteers must be 18 or older.
Donate
Donors are the heartbeat of Operation Be You, providing the financial support that keeps our programs, one-day events, and essential resources thriving.

OBY Liberia
OBY Liberia extends our mission globally by providing girls with empowering programs, cultural experiences, and community-building events rooted in confidence, identity, and leadership. Since launching in 2022, the Liberia chapter has hosted workshops, celebrations, and service activities that mirror OBY’s core values while honoring the unique culture and needs of Liberian girls. Through these recurring programs and special events, OBY Liberia strengthens our international sisterhood and ensures girls across borders feel seen, supported, and inspired to lead.
